FedEx Corp. (New York StockExchange stock code: FDX) is expected to experience the busiest dayin FedEx's history on December 2nd this year, with over 22 millionshipments expected to be transported globally on thatday.
FedEx expects its global networkto transport over 85 million shipments during the busiest week ofthe year, from December 1st to 7th, an increase of 13% compared tothe same period last year.
FedEx Asia Pacific President JianLixing said, "In addition to e-commerce, retail products such aspersonal consumer electronics, clothing, and merchandise will drivethe growth of FedEx holiday shipments, and the Asia Pacific regionplays a significant role in manufacturing these products. With ourglobal network and operational advantages in the Asia Pacificregion, both small and large scale enterprises can benefit from ourconnectivity within the region, as well as with Europe and NorthAmerica. This ensures that customers can succeed during this busyperiod of goods transportation."
Compared to traditional physicalretail stores, e-commerce is growing rapidly around the world at arate of 3 to 4 times. The Asia Pacific region is in a position inthis regard, with e-commerce sales expected to grow by up to 23%,accounting for nearly one-third of global e-commerce sales,compared to other regions worldwide. With over 18000 dedicatedemployees in the FedEx Asia Pacific region and a range ofcomprehensive transportation solutions, FedEx is always ready tohelp customers seize business opportunities in the continuouslygrowing online business.
FedEx will recruit tens ofthousands of temporary employees to help handle the rapidlyincreasing holiday freight volume. The impact of the expectedincrease in freight volume has been included in the company'srevenue guidance released in September this year.
